First Major Injury :(

Drew was staying at Grandma Barbara's house for the weekend (Jaime's mom) and she has an older dog that isn't a fan of hugs unfortunately. The dog ended up biting Andrew right in the lower right cheek. He was rushed to their local ER in Willits (about 4 hours from dad and myself). I got the call around 10:30pm and there is nothing worse in this world than your child getting hurt and you are so far away and can't be there for him. They ended up suturing it closed, prescribed some antibiotics and sent him on his way.

On Monday, I got a hold of Barbara and we all thought it would be best if he came home a day early since he was starting to not act like himself and was in a lot of pain. My mom and I met them halfway from our house and theirs and when I saw Drew, I knew something wasn't right. His cheek had become swollen and red but again, he was just at the ER the night prior so maybe this was his body healing? I wasn't sure. He slept most of the way home and I commenced with the snuggles and Tylenol regimen once we got there.

The next day, Drew was barely speaking, didn't want to eat or drink and his cheek was very red and swollen. I gave him a bath and also noticed the red coloring had spread down the right side of his neck accompanied with a low grade fever of 100.5 and pain on the area...not a good sign. I called his pediatrician immediately and he said to bring him in asap. His dad, Sotirios and myself all met there to see what was going on. As soon as Doctor Cohan saw his face, he told us we needed to take him to the ER and get some IV antibiotics in him right away. Here's where our next week's journey begins...
